8 Month Update

I know I say it every update but I CANNOT believe Whitley is already 8 months! Quickly turning from a baby into a pre-toddler right before our very eyes....make sure you check out the update to the update below!!

Someone with baby fingers decided to add their own touch to the chalkboard.

We rarely get together for a family photo so I plan to make more of an effort to not care if I look like I havent slept and have baby spit up stains on my shirt, we MUST document more pics as a family. Special thanks to our CF7 buddy Andrea Kirk for snapping this photo.

Whitley is up to all kind of new tricks. She loves to play patty cake and peek-a-boo. It cracks us up because for about 2 weeks, Whitley would clap her hands together everytime daddy would walk in the room...and speaking of dada...that was her first word but she now says mama too!

Whitley also enjoys disassembling and pretty much destroying all her toys. Here she is after she flattened her little universe mobile...looks like we have a Whit-zilla on our hands.

We also went to the park with Nana and Granddaddy and got to swing for the first time. She loved it...mama also decided to make a fool of herself by sliding down the slide. Such a fun day!

With all this fun, we decided to put Whitley to work. First, it was to fold some laundry but as you can see from her reaction, she wasn't a fan of this task. Whitley also tried her hands at being a tele-nurse but quickly decided she was much better suited for going on a relaxing walk.

Speaking of working hard...Whitley has been really trying hard to crawl around. She seems to be able to go a few steps...or crawls(?) but quickly loses interest and gives up. It is amazing how she still seems to be able to go where she wants by stretching and scooting.

As you can see below, she continues to find herself in sticky situations...help, Kate!

After a close call with the entertainment center, she finally said forget this crawling and started driving. Beep Beep!

Her most recent fun trick is she is starting to pull herself up on her toys and furniture...time to lower the crib dada!!

In other news, Whitley continues to be a good traveler. We recently went on an 8 hour trip to visit Nana and Granddaddy. We got lots of laughs from the other patrons when daddy let her stretch her legs in the back of the truck at a gas station along our way.

We finished off the month with celebrating mommy's...ahem...33rd birthday. Other than Meme making her wear silly birthday hats, we had alot of fun celebrating.

Alright, I couldn't help myself...can you handle the cuteness?!?!?!

As another update comes to an end, I must say we are very much looking forward to celebrating our 1st Easter together with Whitley this weekend. Check out her face when I told her about the Easter Bunny! Chocolate bunnies, oh my!

****UPDATE TO THE UPDATE****

I had already written the blog earlier today and just needed to do the chalkboard and take the photo. Well while I was drawing on the chalkboard, I guess Whitley decided she wanted the chalk bad enough to crawl across the floor for it. I kept moving her back further and getting her to crawl to the chalk over and over...there is no stopping her now. It is crazy how it just clicked all of a sudden...needless to say it was a little more difficult to take the blog pic of a baby who just learned to crawl. We luckily got one shot where she is looking straight at the camera, but forget worrying about capturing a smile now. Here are some of our bloopers.

7 Month Update

February was filled with hearts, love, an anniversary celebration, and Whitley turning 7 months old.

Whitley continues to enjoy her vegetables. Avocado and carrots are her favorites. She learned all about Mardi Gras and King Cakes but no sugar just yet for this little girl. Whitley also got to hang out with her family and learn to make Italian sausage. She had a lot of fun and even got to meet some more of her extended family.

Whitley spends her days hanging out with her friend Kate when mommy and daddy are at work. These girls have so much fun together with Meme. I love getting photos of the two of them playing all day long.

Whitley had an extra special festive Valentine's Day. She first got to play cupid and even had her own heart bow and arrow.

She also enjoyed putting on her heart pajamas and opening all her Valentine's.

Lots of love from her grandparents and she even received $10!!

In addition to Valentine's Day, mommy and daddy celebrated their 3rd wedding anniversary! I am pretty sure this is the best one yet.

In regards to activities, Whitley likes to play a game where she takes her mat apart like a puzzle so mommy and daddy have to put it back together.

She is moving all around but hasn't started crawling just yet. She does do what we call the "crawfish" where she pushes herself backwards, sliding on the wood floor.

The month of February has also been filled with nice, sunny days, where we were able to get out a do a little stroll around the neighborhood. Whitley likes to play it cool with her shades on when she strolls.

Unfortunately, the blog update is a few days late because Whitley had her first cold. As you can imagine, it was much worse for mommy and daddy to have to see her not feeling well. Mommy is glad to have lots of good family and friends to offer advice...and to keep us from rushing to the emergency room...I know...1st timers.

We usually end the blog with a sweet picture of Whitley sleeping but I thought this was more fun. Instead here is daddy putting stockings on Whitley for the first time...not too shabby.

Well goodbye until next month!! Whitley is excited about the month of March where she can celebrate her Irish heritage, mommy's birthday and her 1st Easter.

6 Months Update...Half Birthday!

Happy 1/2 Birthday to Whitley! It is so hard to believe she is already 6 months old!

Whitley decided to ring in the new year in style by sitting up all on her own!

Once she figured it out she just wanted to sit up all the time.

Whitley and daddy bonded more this month over football...and naps. They are both a bit sad that college football is over.

Mommy would cheer them  up by making silly faces for the camera.

Whitley had so much fun catching up with her older friend Sydney. I am sure this is only the first of many matching outfits for these two.

Whitley is still in the "above average" category for size at 28.5 inches long and 19 lb 4 oz. Dr. Friedman said she is a very happy and healthy 6 month old that is the size of an average 11 month old. There is a basketball coach out there very excited about the class of 2029.

As a result, there is no surprise she out grew her pants a little faster than expected.

On a final note, Whitley loves to play hard whether its in her jumper, reading books, chewing on Sophie or just having a little tea party before finally...

Crashing!

5 Months...Merry and Bright!

Happy 5 Months to Whitley and Merry Christmas to all our family and friends! We have had an exciting month full of all things Christmas including SNOW in Texas.

We kicked off the month with our very first visit to see Santa Claus. Whitley was all smiles as she sat on his lap for a picture and told him all the things she wanted for her 1st Christmas.

Downtown Grapevine, Texas
Whitley also joined mommy and daddy outside as we put up the Christmas lights on the house...not quite Griswold status but it was our first year to put up outside lights.

Now that football season is over, Whitley has had a lot more daddy-daughter bonding time.

Whitley is also getting to bond more with her big brother, Monk.

This was another milestone month as Whitley started eating solids. So far she has tried oatmeal and peas...she is a fan of both!

Whitley also got to make her first trip out of the state to see her family in Mississippi and Louisiana. She is a great traveler as you can see from her pictures.

Road Trip
Starting from top left: Natchez Coffee Shop; Visiting with Aunt Kat in Monroe; Meeting her Great Grandfather and Boppa; Seeing a Natchez Llama; First view of the Mississippi River; Meeting Hayden and Blake

Whitley was a very good girl this year and Santa was very good to her. I am not sure who had more fun this Christmas...Whitley or Mommy and Daddy...but regardless it was a lot of fun passing on our family traditions to Whitley and also starting some new traditions of our own.

We finished out the month with a White Christmas! Whitley enjoyed playing in the snow for the first time.

Whitley wishes everyone a Happy New Year! Sweet Dreams.
